Holy Cow, 2024, (France) Directed by Louise Courvoisier Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre Thursday October 15 Doors Open: 6.30pm 18 year old Totone’s Care free life changes dramatically after his father is killed in a motor vehicle accident. He is left with responsibility for a failing farm and the care of his young sister, Claire. He decides to enter a specialist cheese making competition. Comte cheese is only made in the western French alps. To do this Totone must make advances to Marie -Lise who runs the dairy farm. Where last years winning cheese was made. While marie-lise is distracted -Totone’s mates sneak into the dairy and siphon off the specialist cream needed to make the cheese. Unfortunatley plans with cheese making go wrong, forcing Totone to spend more time with Marie – lise to steal more milk. To try and make another batch of cheese. Then one night Marie-lise must care for a pregnant cow so Totone offers to sit with her, As soon as she falls asleep the cow goes into labour. Totone must decide whether to make off with the cheese or wake Marie Lise as promised. Then things go crazy as Marie-lise brothers come home to catch Totone’s mates in the act of siphoning off the milk. Holy Cow is directed by Louise Courvoisier and won Best First Film at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
