It can be hard to get back into the swing of things after Christmas and the New Year, so a slightly late reminder of our first movie for 2023.

Our 2023 season will commence on Thursday 19th January. We will be starting with the Spanish comedy/drama "The Olive Tree", an unusual road trip from Spain to Germany to recover a special  olive tree.

As usual the doors will open at 6:30 with the screening starting at 7:00. Our bar will be closing at 6:55, so please try to get your drinks before then so our bar volunteers can clear up and not miss too much of the film.

France and Germany were bitter enemies from 1914 to 1918, a century later they cooperated in the production of this touching story of the aftermath of that terrible conflict.

As Anna mourns the loss of her fiancé during the war she encounters a mysterious Frenchman who seems to have come to Germany to pay his respects. Or is there more to it than meets the eye?

Next Thursday, the 17th, we will be screening "Frantz" the Franco-German romantic drama. As usual, doors will open at 6:30, screening at 7:00. We have our bar in full swing and biscuits and cheese will be on offer.

While Covid restrictions have been lifted, it is still with us, so if you are feeling unwell please recover at home.

We have a great night on offer next Thursday (20th October), all the thrills and spills of a Film Society AGM, AND a movie!

To recover from the excitement of the AGM we offer an Iranian mystery.

When a group of university friends head to the Caspian shore in northern Iran  for a picnic they hadn't anticipated one of them would disappear. Let's follow the misadventures of the rest of the group as they try to piece together what has happened to their missing friend.

As always, doors open at 6:30, screening will follow the AGM, which starts at 7:00.

We look forward to seeing you there.

This month we will be enjoying gallic shenanigans as the enigmatic man in a hat travels across France in his Fiat 500 pursued by a Citroen load of even more enigmatic bald men. And is that a dead body travelling with them? Only one way to find out; join us on Thursday 15th September at 6:30 (screening starts at 7).

Light nibbles will be available as will Phil Riley's pre-film tipples from the Charlie Miller bar. Vertical consumption is now permitted, horizontal consumption is not recommended.

Covid is still out there going its hardest so if you are feeling unwell, best to stay home, recover and join in next time.

See you at the movies.

Our July movie will be screened on the 4th Thursday of July, Thursday 28th.  Reluctantly we have been forced to make a late change and will be screening "PERFUMES" a comedy drama from France in lieu of "La Belle Epoque".  Rotten Tomatoes didn't think this film was on the nose as the RT audience gave Perfumes 100%.

As usual SRHT doors open at 6:30pm and the curtain goes up at 7pm.  Phil's pre movie drinks available from upstairs and nibbles as well.

If you are unwell, we hope you  get better soon and politely ask you  to consider holding off until next month when we screen "The Worst Person in the World" (18th August) a romance/drama from Norway.
